I was informed on January 3, 1999 that I have another son. He was born and raised in China by his mother, with whom I had a loving, but unfortunately brief, relationship during one of my several trips to that beautiful country. Since then, I brought him to the United States to continue his education. He has been a godsend. There is no other way to express my feelings for him. He is very bright—loves the social sciences and math, and he’s a big fan of soccer and American football. And much to my surprise and delight, he loves western poetry. He has read my poetry and poetic short prose. His favorites are what he calls My Best, and they are presented as a collection in this book.
